Student Leadership Membership
Leadership may be one of the most complicated yet important skills for librarians to develop in order to lead the field. Many of the important values of librarianship require leaders to promote, advocate, and support. With this in mind, the Library Association of Alberta is launching a new program to promote and support student leadership. This program is meant to help incentivize students in both the Library Technician and the Master studies programs to develop their skills by being on boards and committees early in their development. The main incentive is the ability to obtain a two-year student membership in the LAA at no cost.
Eligibility:
- A current LIT/LIS student undertaking studies full-time or part-time (either in-person or remotely)
- Not already a member of the LAA
- Currently in an unpaid, volunteer leadership role
- Not necessarily library/information related
