Divisions of the LAA
The Divisions of the Library Association of Alberta (LAA) are designed to represent specific groups or sectors within the library industry. Each Division is dedicated to delivering tailored programs, services, and advocacy that benefit its members, the broader Association, the profession of librarianship, the educational community, and the general public.

Recent Developments
At the 2024 LAA Annual General Meeting (AGM), the membership voted to amend the LAA Bylaws to facilitate the establishment of Divisions. We recognize the challenges faced by associations due to limited resources. Divisions will provide library groups and associations with a clear pathway to join the LAA and a solid governance framework, enabling them to achieve their goals within our association's structure.
The LAA’s governance committee is currently developing the policy framework necessary to effectively govern this Divisional structure, with an anticipated completion by the end of 2024.
